CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Shiquon Brown and Martavious Cooper are behind bars after police say they assaulted a 70-year-old man in his Chesapeake home.

According to court documents, in the middle of the day on Oct. 12, the two men used a power cord to hogtie the man and steal his wallets. Police say when they found the 70-year-old, he was still tied up with a jacket over his face. They say he had severe cuts on his head from where he hit with a gun and was disoriented.

Police searched the property and say they found a large pool of blood on the floor of the detached garage. Upon a perimeter search police say they came in contact with Cooper and Brown. However, the two were not arrested until a week later.

A neighbor says one of the men ran into her home right after the attack happened.

“I looked up from the recliner I was sitting in and there was a black young guy on the handle of the door and actually had the door open and went to put his foot in the door,” explained the neighbor, who did not want to be identified.

She says she was not hurt by the men thanks to her dog.

“When he went to put his foot in the door my dog at that point started barking uncontrollably and went up to him and when he ran up to him the guy turned back shut the door and took off running.”

Though knowing what happened to her neighbors continues to make her uneasy, so she is taking extra precautions just in case she comes face to face with a suspect again.

“Now I lock the door anytime I’m up and awake, there is always a door locked. I have a can of mace that is on the side of my recliner just in case.”

Brown and Cooper face abduction, robbery, burglary, malicious wounding and firearm related charges.
