Police looking for suspects in Elizabeth City double shooting

Marquis Dahve Whidbee, charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury, and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Police are investigating a shooting that sent two men to the hospital Wednesday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the 800 block of Walker Avenue just before 8 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found two victims laying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Both victims are men in their twenties.

Police say an unknown suspect fired shots at the victims while they were walking on Walker Avenue.

Medics took both victims to Sentara Hospital for treatment. On Thursday police said the victims still remain in the hospital and they are getting treatment for injuries.

On Thursday police arrested Marquis Whidbee, 21, and charged him with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury, and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.

Whidbee is being held under a $100k secured bond at the Albermarle District Jail.

Police are currently still following other leads as well.
