Students scheduled to return to Carrsville Elementary after fire prompts closure

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. – A fire at Carrsville Elementary School prompted the school to be closed, according to school officials.

Oh November 7 the school announced that students and staff will be returning the building on November 14.

Students and staff are at Windsor Elementary School while repairs are being made to their school.

The Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at the school around 3 a.m. on November 2. Franklin and Windsor Fire Departments were also called to assist.

Firefighters found heavy smoke in the section of the building where the fire started and lighter smoke in other areas of the building.

Fire officials said the fire started on a laptop cart where computers were stored. There was damage to the wall and ceiling near where the cart was parked.

School officials said fortunately, all the damage appeared to be on the surface.
