CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Cubs gambled with their pitching staff, sending closer Aroldis Chapman out in the 8th inning to get seven outs, and to save the Cubs season. Chicago won 3-2 in Game 5 to force a Game 6 in Cleveland on Tuesday.

The Cubs were just hoping to force a Game 6, so they could get former Norfolk Tides pitcher Jake Arrieta back on the mound.

Jose Ramirez solo homered for the Indians in the top of the 2nd inning, and wouldn’t score again until the 6th inning. Chicago’s three runs came in the 4th inning, jump started by a Kris Bryant home-run, his first home-run of the World Series.

Aroldis Chapman threw a season-high 42 pitches, becoming the first pitcher since Madison Bumgarner in 2014 with an 8-out save in an elimination game.
