I can think of nothing scarier than coming face to face with an angry Mabel "Madea" Simmons.
That's exactly what you get in Tyler Perry's "Boo! A Madea Halloween". The best part of the movie? It's funny and doesn't try to be much more, unlike others in the Madea franchise.
This time, Madea and company find themselves at a fraternity party, fighting each other, and at one point, as Madea puts it, fighting her "inner ho".
You'll laugh hard, even when the movie tries too hard to be funny, which it does, or gets a little too vulgar, which it also does. Boo! A Madea Halloween isn't the perfect movie, by far, but it might just be the perfect way to scare up a few laughs this weekend.
I give it 3 out of 5 Blaines.
