Portsmouth Police officer posts selfie on Facebook with lost dog to locate owner

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Police need your help locating the owner of a lost dog!

Officer Westrick found a black, female shepherd mix puppy in the area of Towne Point Road and Bamboo Road in Churchland early Monday morning.

The officer posted a selfie with the dog on the department’s Facebook page to help find the dog’s owner.

According to the post, the dog jumped right into the police car!

“For the last hour of [Officer Westrick’s] shift, she became an official “K9 Unit,” the post said.

The puppy, which appears to be about 6 months old, does not have any identifying information.
