Newport News man brutally beaten during robbery

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A man was badly beaten during a robbery that occurred Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the 800 block of Forrest Drive after a man was bleeding from his face inside an apartment breezeway.

When medics arrived, they found a large amount of blood inside the breezeway and followed the blood trail to an apartment.

Medics found the victim, a 54-year-old Hispanic man, with severe swelling on the right side of his face. The victim was vomiting blood.

The victim told police he was robbed and assaulted by two black men, but was unable to provide a detailed description of the suspects. The victim also told police that the men were unarmed.

The robbers stole the victim’s cell phone and $150.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries and is in critical condition.
