VIRGINIA – Virginia is the sixth best state for teachers, according to finance website WalletHub.

Several factors were taken into consideration when creating the list, including median starting salary, teacher to student ratio and school safety.

The list states that Virginia has the sixth best average starting salary for teachers and ranked third for income growth potential.

The score was considerably lower when it came to school safety, which ranked 27th.
