Isle of Wight deputies arrest 17-year-old Dollar General robbery suspect

Lance A. Wright was arrested in connection with the robbery of a Dollar General.

SMITHFIELD, Va. – Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a teenager in connection with a robbery at the Dollar General store at 4787 Old Stage Highway.

On September 30, deputies were called to the store at 9:14 a.m. after receiving calls about a robbery and abduction.

Deputies were told a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt covering his face and armed with a gun came into the store and took money out of the register and safe.

The suspect ordered the employee to drive him in the employee’s car. When they were several miles away, the suspect exited the vehicle and the employee returned to the store. No one was injured during the incident.

On October 7, deputies arrested 17-year-old Lance A. Wright in connection with the incident. Wright has been declared an adult by another court and was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail on no bond.
