LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Walt Disney World is closing due to Hurricane Matthew.

The Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses, water parks and ESPN Wide World of Sports complex will all be closed starting at 5 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday.

Disney World is normally open 365 days a year. In fact, this is only the fourth time the park has closed since opening on October 1, 1971.

It also closed for Hurricane Floyd in 1999, 9/11 and due to a power failure in 2002.

Other area theme parks including Universal Orlando, Sea World and Legoland are also closed Friday.
