Suffolk offers free dog therapy treatment to children through October

SUFFOLK, Va. – Suffolk Parks and Recreation is offering a Thera-PAWS Therapeutic Recreation event in October.

The event will be held every Wednesday from October 12 – 16 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at The Planters Club.

The event is free and is geared towards children and adolescents ages 4 and up with special needs and abilities.

The Suffolk Humane Society will bring therapy dogs to assist in the practice, development, and improvement of an individual’s communication skills, behavior, and social skills.

Children are invited to play, read, or wind down with the positive interactions with four-legged friends.
