ERT WEEKLY CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE Friday, Sept. 23 to Friday, Sept. 30 

Significant tunnel/lane closures for the Elizabeth River Tunnels (ERT) Project. Due to the nature of construction, closure dates are subject to change. Visit our Travel Impacts page for current information and a more detailed listing of long-term temporary road closures.

I-264 West: Berkeley Bridge alternating lane closures Thursday and Friday, Sept. 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. each day.

U.S. 58 East: Full weekend tunnel closure from Friday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 3 at 5 a.m.

London Boulevard East/ U.S. 58: Full ramp closure This ramp will  be closed nightly Monday through Friday, Sept. 26-30 from 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

U.S. 58/ London Boulevard East: Full ramp closure Monday through Thursday, Sept. 26-29 from 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

High Street: Full closure between Constitution Avenue and Confederate Avenue  Monday through Friday, Sept. 26-30 from 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

I-264 East: Lane closures between Frederick Boulevard and Des Moines Avenue Sunday through Friday, Sept. 25-30 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

I-264 West: Lane closures between Effingham Street and Portsmouth Boulevard Sunday through Friday, Sept. 25-30 from 8 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

CHINCOTEAGUE BRIDGE INTERMINTENT TRAFFIC STOPPAGES SCHEDULED

ACCOMACK COUNTY– Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) bridge crews will be performing maintenance on the Chincoteague Bridge (Route 175) that will require intermittent traffic stoppages. The traffic stoppages will occur on September 28-30, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in both the east- and westbound directions of the bridge, with stoppages expected to last up to 15 minutes each.

HAMPTON ROADS WEEKLY LANE CLOSURES REPORT September 23, 2016 through September 30, 2016

  • I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel: Single-lane closures eastbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound September 26-28 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • US-17 James River Bridge: Alternating and single-lane closures northbound and southbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Northbound/Southbound September 26-30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • I-64 High Rise Bridge: Single-lane closures as follows eastbound and westbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound/Westbound September 26-29 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Chincoteague Bridge (Route 175), Accomack County: Intermittent stoppages September 28-30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Traffic stoppages to last up to 15 minutes at a time.
  • Terminal Boulevard Resurfacing, Norfolk: Full weeknight/weekend closures westbound as follows. Alternating lane closures eastbound as follows and one lane will remain open at all times:
  • Westbound Weeknights September 27-30 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-264 Westbound Ramp to I-64 Eastbound, Norfolk: Alternating lane closures September 27-29 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning with intermittent traffic stoppages to last up to 15 minutes at a time.
  • I-64 Eastbound/Westbound, Peninsula: Alternating and single-lane closures as follows eastbound and westbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound September 29 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning between Toano and Croaker in James City County.
  • Terminal Boulevard, Norfolk: Alternating lane closures eastbound and westbound as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Eastbound /Westbound September 26-29 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

 

  • Military Highway Continuous Flow Intersection, Norfolk: Alternating single-lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • September 25 – October 1: Alternating single-lane closures northbound and southbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Military Highway between Valley Drive and Lynn Street.
  • September 25 – October 1: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Princess Anne Road, between Sigmon Street and the intersection of Military Highway.
  • September 25 – October 1: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Northampton Boulevard between the intersection of Military Highway and past USAA Drive.
  • September 25 – October 1: Alternating single-lane closures eastbound and westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Robin Hood Road between Ellsmere Avenue and Miller Store Road.
  • US-17, Isle of Wight County: Single-lane closures southbound in Carrolton (near Eagle Harbor). One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • US-17 Sidney B. Hazelwood Bridge, Isle of Wight County: Alternating lane closures northbound and southbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 28-30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • U.S. 460, Wakefield: Alternating lane closures eastbound and westbound on U.S. 460. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-29 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
    • September 30 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures northbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 6-December 5 from 12 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

 

  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County: Consecutive single-lane closures southbound between Route 179 and Taylor Road. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-November 29 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • US-13 (Lankford Highway), Accomack County/Melfa: Daytime single-lane closures northbound and southbound in Onley. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • September 26-29 from as early as 7 a.m. until as late as 7 p.m.
    • September 30 from as early as 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.
  • Route 301 Sussex County: Full consecutive closure for bridge replacement September 2016 through December 2017 on Route 301 between VA-40 and Route 642.
  • I-64 Widening Project, Newport News: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound September 25-29 as early as 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. All work will take place between Jefferson Avenue and Fort Eustis, and one lane will remain open to traffic at all times.   • Elizabeth River Tunnels/Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway:  Please check Elizabeth River Tunnels website for the latest closure and detour information regarding the Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel and the MLK Freeway.

 

 

  • George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), York County: Crews are widening the road between Route 630 (Wolf Trap Road) and Route 706 (Hampton Highway). Daytime single-lane closures, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and weeknight single-lane closures, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect traffic shifts and delays. NORTH BATTLEFIELD BLVD SINGLE LANE CLOSURE

Southbound North Battlefield Blvd right-turn lane at Medical Pkwy

Through October 15

 Continued utilities installation will keep the right-turn lane on southbound North Battlefield Blvd at Medical Pkwy closed through October 15.  Motorists should be alert to work crews, equipment in the area and possible delays.
