The U.S. Air Force is celebrating it’s 69th birthday on September 18, 2016!

The Air Force was created as an independent service when President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act in 1947. 

According to military.com, the U.S. Air Force first engaged in aerial combat during the Korean War.

The USAF also participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
