Man dies after being hit by vehicle in Virginia Beach early Sunday morning

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A man died after being hit by a car at the intersection of the 800 block of General Booth Boulevard and the 1000 block of South Birdneck Road, according to police.

Dispatch received the call just before 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say the driver of a 2005 Grand Cherokee was driving east on General Booth Boulevard when a pedestrian started walking on the street and was hit by the vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

Police are still investigating the incident and there are currently no pending charges for the driver of the vehicle.
