Christopher Newport ranked 5th best public university in the South

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Christopher Newport University is the fifth best public university in the South, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“Our commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom, great faculty, and emphasis on leadership, service and honor are what make Christopher Newport special,” Christopher Newport University President Paul S. Trible Jr. said.

The school tied with Asbury University in Kentucky as the 14th best regional university in the South for 2017.

The criteria is based on multiple factors, including graduation and retention rates, commitment to instruction as measured by small class size, student selectivity and alumni giving.
