There's something for everyone in Pete's Dragon.
Parents are going to love the throwback to the 1977 version. But, make no mistake, this is a total reboot. This update is all live action. Somehow, that makes to make Elliot even more lovable. I'm a grown man and even I melted a couple of times.
Aside from the boy and his dragon, the adult characters really deliver. I mean, can you really go wrong with Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard? Moms and dads will love the innocence in this story, too. It's wholesome, yet wildly entertaining.
In a summer of lackluster offerings for families, Pete's Dragon is, without a doubt, the best thing out there. I give it 4 out of 5 Blaines.
