CBS News analyzed per capita weapons data to rank how heavily armed states in the U.S. are.
Virginia was ranked 5th.
The information was based on 2013 U.S. Census data and from the ATF’S National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
NFA firearms only consist of categories regulated by The National Firearms Act of 1934.
Virginia ranked 5th based on findings that said for every 1,000 residents, there are 30.1 guns.
The total number of registered firearms in Virginia is 248,939 and this is among 8,260,405 people.
North Carolina came in at the 28th most heavily armed state in the nation.
The state had 11.1 guns for every 1,000 residents. That is 109,388 registered firearms out of 9,848,060 people.
