VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health is offering free Tdap vaccinations for rising sixth graders.

Virginia law states that students must receive a Tdap shot before entering the 6th grade.

The vaccine can protect from tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

Free vaccinations will be available on August 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Health Department office at 4452 Corporation Lane in Virginia Beach. No appointment is necessary.

Parents must accompany students and bring a photo ID, insurance card and their child’s current immunization record.

If you’re unable to make it to the event, Tdap shots are also available through the Health Department’s immunization clinic. For more information, including clinic days and times, call 757-518-2700.
