Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

***A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM for inland portions of the Southside and Northeastern North Carolina. Afternoon heat index values will likely top 105 for many locations.***

Extreme heat continues… Highs will reach the low and mid 90s today, with dew points in the mid to upper 70s. Expect heat index values this afternoon between 100 and 105 for many areas with some locations over 105. We should see a nice mix of sun and clouds again today. An isolated shower or storm could pop up again this afternoon.

Expect highs in the mid 90s through midweek with afternoon heat index values from 105 to 110. Temperatures will start to drop for the second half of the week as rain chances go up. Expect highs in the upper 80s for Thursday and Friday and the mid 80s for the weekend. Our highest chance for showers and storms will be Thursday and a front slowly drifts over the Mid-Atlantic.

Tropical Update

We are watching a tropical wave a few hundred miles SSE of the Cabo Verde Islands. Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next few days before conditions become less favorable by the late in the week. This system will move west to WNW at about 15 mph over the eastern Atlantic through mid-week.
