PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Several buildings at Norfolk Naval Shipyard were evacuated Monday morning after a threatening message was found.

Shipyard law enforcement was called around 9 a.m. after an employee found the message written on a bathroom stall door inside an industrial building.

Several buildings were evacuated while the threat was investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

About 400 employees, 10 percent of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard workforce, were dismissed early.

All other work continued as normal and all second shift employees are expected to work as scheduled.
