Patrick’s First Warning Forecast: More heavy downpours

Posted

Chief Meteorologist Patrick Rockey’s First Warning Forecast

It’s a new month but the weather pattern is just the same as yesterday. And that will mean more showers and more thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, producing heavy downpours.

A stationary front is draped across the region and could be the focus for more storms this evening. And because the front is stationary, any storms that develop under it won’t move very quickly. That means more heavy downpours on ground that is already saturated in many spots.

That front is going to be slow getting out of here. So, we will likely still see showers and thunderstorms around for Tuesday, as well.

The front will finally move south of the area on Wednesday, meaning we will have lower rain chances for the mid and later parts of the workweek. Behind that front we will also have some milder temperatures. Expect highs on Wednesday and Thursday in the mid 80s. We will warm into the upper 80s on Friday and back to the lower 90s for the weekend.

It looks like we will get a chance to dry out for a few days. Our next serious chance for rain after Tuesday doesn’t come until next Monday.
