***A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 PM today for all of Eastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Most areas will see highs in the mid 90s with heat index values from 105 to 110.***

Tracking the heat, humidity and scattered storms….The First Warning Storm Team is keeping an eye on the thermometer and the radar today with a chance of thunderstorms in your forecast.

As we move through our Tuesday afternoon, high temperatures will climb into the mid 90s. However, when you factor in the humidity, it will feel like 105 to 110 for most areas, so take your precautions. We’re expecting a mix of sun and clouds today with a few scattered showers and storms as a cold front stalls across the Mid-Atlantic. Some storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and heavy rain. Showers and storms will also be possible this evening. Otherwise, we’ll see partly cloudy skies. Low temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

Over the next few days, our high temperatures will slip into the low and mid 90s. However, we’ll still likely have triple digit heat index values, so keep that in mind. We’ll also have a chance of showers and storms in the forecast almost every day due in part to a stalled front across the area. No day looks like a complete washout. Any storms that develop, though, could produce heavy rain and gusty winds.

By the weekend, highs are expected in the upper 80s and lower 90s with a chance of storms.
