NORFOLK, Va- The Mid Atlantic Powerboating Association will kick off their 8th annual F. Wayne McLeskey Jr Memorial Power Boating for a Cure Poker Run, Friday morning at 9 a.m.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Komen For the Cure Tidewater Affiliate, with a smaller share going to support the Associated General Contractors Scholarship Fund

This year’s trek leads from Waterside Marina to Kings Mill on the James and Bluewater Yachts on the Hampton waterfront, to Rudee Inlet, Lynnhaven Inlet and Long Bay Point Marina, Virginia Beach. From there, they head back into the Bay, stopping at Pelican’s Nest Marina inside Norfolk’s Little Creek for a card, and finish up at Waterside, where they receive their final card.

With a limit of 75 participating boats, this year’s Powerboating For A Cure event is already a sell-out.

“MAPA” is a group of power boat professionals from Southeast Virginia. They began organizing and promoting poke runs in 2009 as well as other boating related events to benefit local and national charities.
