RICHMOND, Va. – Virginians now have a new way to apply to register to vote. Governor Terry McAuliffe announced Thursday that citizens will soon be able to apply electronically if needing to register to vote.

The new application process with the agency will launch in July in an effort to make the voter registration process easier. The governor’s office is also hoping that it will reduce the amount of time DMV employees spend printing and mailing applications.

The DMV office is asking that if customers need to update their address to do so by visiting dmvNOW.com, instead of completing the mail process.

Virginia Commissioner of Elections is hoping that these upcoming changes will make the registration process more flexible and efficient for customers.
