As we move through our Thursday afternoon and evening, keep your eye to the sky and to News 3. We are tracking the potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Any storms that develop could produce heavy rain and localized flooding today. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds. It’s going to be hot and humid with high temperatures in the mid 80s. Tonight, most of the rain should dissipate with the loss of daytime heating, giving way to partly to mostly cloudy skies and lows in the lower 70s. Areas of patchy fog will likely develop late tonight into tomorrow morning.
Over the next few days, showers and storms will be possible as a front stalls across the area. However, no day looks like a complete washout through the holiday weekend. So, going through our Friday, expect a mix of sun and clouds and scattered rain and storms. Highs will warm up into the lower 90s, but because of the humidity, it will feel a lot hotter. On both Saturday and Sunday, scattered rain and storms will be possible, but again, a washout isn’t expected. Just have a backup plan if you have outdoor plans through the weekend, just in case a shower or storm moves in your direction. Highs will be in the mid 80s. On the 4th of July, more scattered showers and storms are possible. Otherwise, we’ll see partly sunny skies. Highs will be in the mid 80s. And the threat for storms continues into Tuesday as a lot of us head back to work. High will be in the mid and upper 80s.
