NORFOLK, Va. - Two students with the same story, and still no answer from the school.

Prezhontay Wilkins walked across the stage at Lake Taylor High School's graduation almost one week ago, but without the recognition he says he earned.

Up until his last semester, Wilkins said he had a 2.99 GPA and was thrilled to hear his final grades bumped him to at least a 3.0. His mother, Andrea Wilkins, said she called the school to be sure her son was on the list and was told he was.

Wilkins said she asked if she owed the school any money. She said they told her there was no cost, and Prezhontay would get his gold sash and cords on the day of the graduation ceremony.

That happened, but only after he had walked across the stage and received his diploma.

He told NewsChannel 3 that he feels cheated of his special day.

The guidance office called us back Tuesday saying they cannot comment on the issue as it breaches the students' confidentiality. Karen Tanner with the Norfolk Public School system said she is working on getting to the bottom of why this happened.
