Norfolk, Va. (WTKR) - Strong thunderstorms rolled through Hampton Roads Sunday night.

Heavy rainfall caused some issues on the roads for drivers, including portions of Brambleton Avenue in Downtown Norfolk that saw flooding.

In the Olde Towne section of Portsmouth, police had to temporarily close roadway there as a result of standing water.

Lightning and strong winds were characteristic of the storms, from the Ocean View section of Norfolk to the Greenbrier Area of Chesapeake.

Several downed trees were also reported in Isle of Wight County along Highway 258 during the storms Sunday night.
