Sam Hitch recently graduated from the University of Virginia and is already gunning for another accomplishment: a 3,900 mile triathlon across the U.S.

Hitch told News 3 the trip contains running, swimming and biking in all terrain and climates.

Departing from Yorktown, Virginia in mid-June, Hitch plans to reach San Francisco, California after between 54 and 63 days of endurance travel.

If he completes it, Hitch will break the previous record of 3,093 miles set in the summer of 2014.

Backed by the Lustgarten Foundation, Hitch said 100 % of the money he raises goes to their Pancreatic Cancer research.

Hitch’s family plans to travel alongside him in an RV, documenting his journey for anyone wishing to follow.
