Tracking scattered rain and thunderstorms for your holiday weekend….Enjoy the sun in today’s forecast because changes are on the way, courtesy of what’s moving in from the tropics.
We’re keeping an eye on Tropical Depression Two in the Atlantic Ocean. It continues to move toward the southeast coast of the U.S. The system has not shown better organization since Friday due to wind shear. However, the depression could still strengthen briefly into a tropical storm before making landfall over South Carolina late tonight/early Sunday morning. Once it makes landfall, we’ll start seeing scattered rain and thunderstorms moving our way.
But first, as we move through this Saturday, expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. In fact, this is the pick day of the weekend, so get out there and enjoy it. High temperatures will warm into the low and mid 80s. Later this evening, we’ll see increasing clouds from south to north and could even see a few isolated showers, but most of the rain will arrive Sunday and Monday. Low temperatures will dip into the mid 60s tonight.
Rain chances will be going up as we move through Sunday and Monday. Now, while we won’t see a complete washout, scattered showers and storms are expected on both Sunday and Monday. We could see some heavy tropical downpours at times, but again, we won’t see rain from start to finish on any day. Just have your rain gear handy and a backup plan for your outdoor plans. We’ll see mostly cloudy skies otherwise. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Some rain will likely linger into Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend!
