As the weather warms up ticks became more active. These small bugs can bite humans or household pets, sometimes transmitting infections, rashes, or Lyme diseaseIxodes_scapularis

Ticks primarily live on tall grasses or in wooded areas. However, they can enter your home through pets or from attaching themselves to your clothing. It’s important to watch for Lyme disease symptoms. These symptoms usually show up about one to two weeks after the initial bite.

People who have been bitten might notice a bulls-eye rash, fever, muscle and joint pain, or fatigue.

In order to avoid being bitten, you can take some simple precautions. Limit exposed skin by wearing long-sleeved shirts and tucking your pants into your socks. Avoid sitting on the ground. Be careful to inspect yourself, children, and pets after being outside to ensure they haven’t picked up any unwelcome attachments.
