Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Even warmer with more sunshine… Expect plenty of sunshine today with just a few passing clouds. Temperatures will start in the low to mid 60s and climb into the mid 80s this afternoon, a few degrees warmer than yesterday. We will warm into the upper 80s on Thursday, about 10 degrees above normal. Expect sunshine Thursday with a few extra clouds building in the afternoon. A stray “pop-up” shower or storm is possible but chances will be slim.

Our nice and warm weather continues for Friday but we are watching the Memorial Day weekend forecast closely. An area of low pressure will develop and move inland near the Carolinas, throwing showers and storms across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. There is a small chance that the area of low pressure could develop into a tropical system. As of now, it’s looking like a bit of a 50/50 holiday weekend. Friday and Saturday are looking dry but rain/storm chances return for Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will cool a bit for the weekend, into the low 80s and upper 70s.

Today: Mostly Sunny, Warm. Highs in the mid 80s. Winds: SW 5-10

Tonight: Mainly Clear. Lows in the mid 60s. Winds: S 5-10

Tomorrow: A Few Clouds, Warm & Muggy, Stray Shower. Highs in the upper 80s. Winds: S 5-10

Tropical Update

We are watching an area of showers and thunderstorms over the western Atlantic Ocean near the Bahamas. Development is not expected for the few days, but environmental conditions could become more conducive for some tropical or subtropical development by Friday. This area of disturbed weather is expected to move slowly west-northwestward and gradually approach the southeastern U.S. over the next few days.

Formation chance through 48 hours: Low (10%)

Formation chance through 5 days: Medium (50%)
