ORLANDO, Fla. – East Carolina University Senior Avion Jones set the world’s second highest high jump mark at the AAC Outdoor Championships Saturday evening.

His mark of 2.31 meters (7 feet, 7 inches) was also good enough for the AAC meet record and program outdoor record.

Jones won the state championship at First Colonial High School his senior season and has now captured the last four AAC conference titles.

He is assured a spot in the NCAA regionals, where he will attempt to better that mark.
