First Warning Forecast: We’re tracking rain for the weekend

and last updated

We’re tracking rain for the weekend….Don’t put away your umbrella just yet. We are tracking scattered rain and possibly some thunderstorms for the weekend.

But first, as we move through our Thursday evening, expect mostly cloudy skies. A few isolated and, at times, scattered showers are possible early, but most areas will be dry. Low temperatures will be in the mid 50s.

Enjoy the weather on Friday! High pressure will build over the area, giving way to a nice mix of sun and clouds. In fact, most of the day will be dry with high temperatures in the low 70s.

By late Friday evening, clouds will build and thicken as an area of low pressure moves in from the southwest. We could even see a few isolated showers. But the bulk of the rain will arrive overnight Friday through the day on Saturday as the low rides along our coast. Some of the rain could be heavy. A couple of thunderstorms are also possible. Otherwise, expect cloudy skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s.  Our winds will also be breezy, blowing in from the north-northeast between 15 and 25 mph. We could see some tidal flooding around high tide because of the strong winds. High tide at Sewells Point will be at 9:42 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.  Turn around, don’t drown!

As the low moves to the north by Sunday, some lingering moisture will likely wrap around the low, giving way to a few scattered showers. Otherwise, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with highs in the lower 70s.

Tonight: Partly Cloudy. Stray Shower (10-20%). Low temperatures in the mid 50s. Winds: E/N 5-10 mph.

Friday: Sun and Clouds. Isolated Showers (20%). Clouds thicken late in the day. High temperatures in the low 70s. Winds: E 5-10 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy. Rain Likely (90%). Isolated Storm Possible. Breezy. High temperatures in the lower 70s. Winds: N/NE 15-25 mph.
