VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Ferry Plantation was named after the ferry which ran across the Lynnhaven waterway. The land housed the second Princess Anne courthouse and this is where a woman named Grace Sherwood was convicted of witchcraft. She was the only person convicted of this crime in the state of Virginia.

Ferry Plantation House was built in 1830 by George and Elizabeth MacIntosh using the bricks of a previously standing building which burned down. The home was built for their then 17-year-old son, Charles Fleming MacIntosh.

Run entirely by volunteers, the house is now open for tours to the general public on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Admission is $5 for children and $10 for adults.
