Susannah Mushatt Jones died Thursday night at her senior home in Brooklyn, New York.

“Miss Susie,” as she was known, was 116-years and 311 days old.

Born on July 6, 1899, in Lowndes County, Alabama, Susannah Mushatt Jones (right) has lived in parts of three centuries, according to Guinness World Records. Jones is the oldest living person at 116.

She was the last known American to have been born in the 1800s.

Jones lived through 20 U.S. Presidents, two World Wars, and the birth of the automobile, the airplane, TV, and Internet.

She had no children, but leaves behind countless family members, including more than 100 nieces and nephews.

Record-keepers say the oldest person on Earth is now Emma Morano-Martinuzzi, an Italian woman born on November 29, 1899.
