NORFOLK, Va. - The U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Hampton Roads Naval Museum and Nauticus have welcomed Stewards of the Sea: Defending Freedom, Protecting the Environment.

The  1,000 sq. ft. highly interactive exhibit is on the third floor of Nauticus. It shows how the Navy protects marine life while completing its mission.

The exhibit teaches visitors different scenarios about the science of sonar and whale tagging and how the Navy keeps the seas clean.

Navy Sailors are trained to protect our country, in a way that respects and protects the environment.

"Our Sailors have a long history of successful environmental stewardship while conducting safe, effective and sustained operations at sea," said Ted Brown, Installations and Environmental Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Fleet Forces Command.

Stewards of the Sea highlights the Navy's commitment in protecting marine life through scientific research.
