VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A lawsuit claims that music producer Lexus Arnel Lewis, better known as Lex Luger, assaulted a Chesapeake sheriff’s deputy.

Luger, a Suffolk native, is known for producing beats for big names like Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.

According to the lawsuit, Luger and the deputy came into contact back in November of 2015.

It states that the deputy had to serve a temporary detention order on Luger and drive him to a medical facility in Virginia Beach.

During that time, the lawsuit claims Luger refused to obey the deputy’s order to remain seated, and bolted from his seat violently in an attempt to escape. The deputy twisted and fell, which caused severe and permanent injuries to his knee and other parts of his body.

The lawsuit states that the deputy had to undergo major reconstructive knee surgery, which will require future medical visits and bills.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages in the amount of $750,000 and punitive damages in the amount of $350,000.

Attorney Jeffrey Brooke says he is not releasing the name of his client in accordance with the policies of the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office.

A spokesman for the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office says they can confirm a report of an incident, but because there is now pending litigation and a worker’s compensation claim, they are not commenting further.

Brooke says he has been unable to get in touch with Luger about the lawsuit.

Shortly after the news broke, the following tweets surfaced on Luger’s Twitter page.

News 3 made numerous attempts to make contact with Luger, but we are still waiting to hear back.
