Lauryn Hill performs at Portsmouth Pavilion

PORTSMOUTH, Va.-  Hip-hop and R&B artist, Lauryn Hill performed at the Portsmouth Pavilion Sunday.

The five time Grammy award winning singer – was in Hampton Roads for Mother’s Day.  Hill has touched many lives through her many talents of music, song, acting and dance.

Growing up in a home where different genres of music were staples, Hill grew up with a deep appreciation for music.

She spent many years of acting in plays and being casted in TV commercials, as well as the daytime drama “As the World Turns”, Steven Soderbergh’s, “King of the Hill” and “Sister Act II.”

After graduating from high school, Lauryn Hill attended Columbia University in New York – while also being a member of the famous group the Fugees.

Hill often envisioned herself as a great person who would contribute to the world. Which led to her establishing a  recognizable reputation in the music industry.

She launched her solo career with the release of her successful and critically acclaimed album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”

Her personal and passionate songs are still in the hearts of those who have been touched by her envisions of greatness.
