Oceana officer injured in hit and run at Navy Exchange

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Naval Air Station Oceana civilian police officer was injured Sunday afternoon in a hit and run incident.

According to Oceana Public Affairs Officer Jennifer Colaizzi, the officer was hit by a car at the Navy Exchange sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. The driver of that car then fled the scene.

The officer was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The safety of our Navy family and surrounding community is of utmost importance and we’ve partnered with Virginia Beach Police to apprehended the suspect.  The incident is under investigation,” said Colaizzi.
