NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are investigating after two people were shot Sunday morning.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of 25th Street shortly before 6 a.m. on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, police officers located two male victims. One was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics. Police have identified him as Lavelle T. Singleton, 37, of Newport News.
The other victim, a man in his mid-20s, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injures.
The only suspect description police had as of Sunday morning was that a black male was seen running from the scene.
