CHESAPEAKE, Va. - It was a dream coming true for man living in Virginia Beach.
Giavanni Ruffin only played football for his senior season at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, but that was enough to get some attention of college coaches.
“Gee” as his friends call him, played for East Carolina University. His versatility as a receiver out of the back field mixed with his strength and speed made him an instant star for the pirates there.
But the next step to the NFL would not come easy.
For the last five years, Giavanni has been training and keeping himself ready for the call.
His training partner and close friend -- Kam Chancellor for the Seattle Seahawks noticed Ruffin's athleticism was on par with many of the players he competed with in the NFL.
Chancellor let his team know then earlier this week he became a Seahawk!
“I never gave up. Don’t you ever give up. I’m a Seahawk!,” said Ruffin on his Instagram Page.
