VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The legacy of former Virginia Beach Navy SEAL Mike Oyer will be remembered during the annual Walk to Defeat ALS Saturday.
The 5K walk aims to raise funds for research to cure ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
NewsChannel 3 followed the former SEAL Team 6 member's journey from diagnosis to his passing. Over time, the disease took away his ability to walk, talk and breath.
His wife Valerie is still leading his team, The Frog Hollow Warriors, in his honor.
There is still time to donate to Mike's team.
The walk begins at 11 a.m. at the 17th Street Park at the Oceanfront.
