A 3,456-pound great white shark named Mary Lee has once again been tracked swimming off the coast of Virginia.
As of Thursday morning, Mary Lee’s last ping was in the Atlantic, well off the coast of the Eastern Shore.
Mary Lee has been tracked by OCEARCH.org since she was tagged in September 2012. Since then, she has traveled nearly 34,000 miles up and down the East Coast of the U.S., tracking as far north as Massachusetts and south nearly to the Caribbean.
The 16-foot long shark was named after OCEARCH expedition leader Chris Fischer’s mother.
