FBI hosting premier screening for drug and opioid abuse film

Norfolk, Va. – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Norfolk Field Office is hosting a premier screening for “Chasing the Dragon, The life of an Opiate Addict.”

The film is a documentary created by the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to educate high school students about the dangers of prescription drug and opioid abuse and the consequences of addiction.

The premier will be  followed by a panel discussion including representatives from the DEA, United States Attorney’s Office, Tidewater District Medical Examiner’s Office, a specialized “addiction issues” social worker and a member of the Virginia Beach School Board. FBI Public Affairs Adviser Michael Kulstad will be the moderator for the discussion.

The purpose of the event is to educate teachers, professionals and students on the issue and encourage teachers to consider incorporating the film into their drug awareness programs or curriculum.

The screening will take place Tuesday, April 12 an Cinema Cafe Greenbrier as 11 a.m.  The event is free and open to the public.
