Four rescued on sailboat near Cape Charles

Cape Charles, Va. – The Coast Guard rescued four people who were on a sailboat Friday night near Cape Charles.

They were just three miles west.

Coast Guard crews were notified at 7 p.m. on Friday night that a 40-foot sailboat from Hampton was disabled and affected by the weather.  Two men and two women were aboard.

A 25-foot response boat was dispatched at 8 p.m. A crew member helped the sailboat passengers set a tow.

They towed the boat to Cape Charles Harbor and moored up at 9:08 p.m.

Officials advise boaters to check the weather before setting sail.

No one was injured during this incident.
