Richmond, Va. – Some big changes are coming to Virginia soon.

The Commonwealth of Virginia, Microsoft and Dominion Power are teaming up to build a new facility that will bring 20 megawatts of solar energy onto the grid in Virginia.

This is enough energy to power 5,000 homes.

Dominion Power will build the new facility on the land it already owns in Fauquier County.

The project is expected to start in late 2017, subject to regulatory approval.
