2008 homicide suspect indicted for 2nd degree murder

Norfolk, Va – A man suspected of murdering a woman in 2008 has been indicted by a grand jury Wednesday for second degree murder.

The Norfolk PD and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation worked together to charge 27-year-old Michael Brown of North Carolina with one count of second degree murder on September 28, 2015.

Brown was suspected of murdering of Angela Lechlitner.

Back in January 2008, Lechlitner’s body was found at her house in the 2400 block of Shafer Street in Norfolk.

Her death was labeled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but her murder was unsolved.

Norfolk Police Department’s Homicide Section and Cold Case Section continued to pursue leads in the case.

Brown was arrested in Wayne County, North Carolina and was being held in the Wayne County Corrections Facility for extradition to Virginia.

He next court date is March 16.
