Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk newborn Chase Alan Wyland will be four-years-old before he is able to celebrate his first birthday.

“We were contemplating it,” said his father, Christopher Wyland of Norfolk. “I knew it was going to be around the time. I was kind of excited that it could land on it.”

Baby Chase was born happy and healthy after nine hours of labor at Sentara Leigh Hospital on February 29th, or Leap Year Day as it is also called.

“I think I was anxious to just get him out, and it would be my luck that I would have him on the 29th of February,” said his mother Tori Hohorst of Virginia Beach.

Baby Chase’s parents say they plan on celebrating their son’s birthday on February 28th on non-leap years, so their son can still celebrate during his birthday month.

“I think it`s pretty cool, honestly. Personally I would love to be able to say that when I get older...saying that I`m like 40-years-old, but I`m actually ten in the amount of real birthdays,” said Wyland.
