Hampton, Va. – Hampton University’s men’s lacrosse team will host its inaugural varsity game at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 13th.

Hampton’s team is the first HBCU men’s lacrosse team since Morgan State in 1981.

The Morgan State team was a Div. II program, making Hampton’s program the first HBCU with a Div. I program.

The Pirates will be making their varsity debut under the direction of head coach Lloyd Carter, who was on that historic Morgan State squad known as “the Ten Bears.” Carter is a lacrosse lifer, and he was also the coach of Hampton’s club team.
