Thursday’s First Warning Forecast

Snow & extremely cold… Plenty of sunshine today but it will be cold and windy. Highs will only reach the upper 30s this afternoon with wind chills about 10 degrees colder. Winds will relax tonight as lows slip to near 20.

Highs will return to the mid 30s on Friday with another chance for snow Friday afternoon as an area of low pressure slides to our south. Snow showers will start around Noon and will last until just after sunset. Most of Hampton Roads will see near 0.5” of accumulation with lower amounts north and higher amounts near the NC line. Most of Northeastern North Carolina will see near 1” of accumulation with higher numbers possible near the Albemarle Sound. Rain will mix in for the southern Outer Banks, limiting snow totals.

Even colder air is set to move in this weekend. Expect highs in the mid 30s on Saturday and upper 20s on Sunday. Overnight lows will fall into the teens both nights. Winds will ramp up again this weekend, making if feel even colder. Wind chills will be close to zero Sunday morning.
